One of the most rewarding features to having a blog is being able to share not just your opinions and viewpoints with the people that drop by; it's being able to share a little bit of yourself and your life.So I'm going to start a new feature on "Perspectives" called "Weekend Wanderings": No politics, current events, or news, just a few Saturday and/or Sunday personal observations about good friends, good food, and the wonders of the universe.
One of those wonders is that this weekend I actually was presented with an award for "Excellence in Journalism" in the Editorial Category, from the Pennsylvania Women's Press Association. The Awards Luncheon was held at the Penn Stater Hotel in State College and was quite the affair.
The best part was being with so many wonderful women journalists from around the Commonwealth, especially the fabulous, fun, team from The Morning Call, which by the way, did extremely well in all categories.
Shown with me in the photo above is Diane Stoneback, in the middle, and Ann Wlazelek, on the right, both of whom not only won multiple awards, they also took home "Writer of the Year" honors.
Not shown in the photo are the rest of The Morning Call PWPA award winners: Genevieve Marshall, Debbie Garlicki, and Mariella Savidge.
Congratulations to everyone who was recognized for their work, and thanks to super-photographer, Don Fisher, for tolerating my point and shoot camera long enough to take this photo. Don was also recognized for his fabulous news photos at the Keystone Press Awards held in conjunction with PWPA.
All in all the home town team did the Lehigh Valley, proud.
